My View From Las Vegas

We are at the starting gate. Water an feed all the livestock, particularly the Horses. Ready to break Camp. 2003 here we come. Smallpox vacination seems pretty dicey at the onset. I have recollection of receiving the small pox innoculation as part of a Health Travel Document in the mid to late Seventies so as to travel safely in the Persian Gulf, and Middle East. Travel safely in the Gulf, or Middle East, Oxymoron, right. If there ever was one. Suicide Bombers again today in Tel Aviv. The year is already only five days old, and the cruel and inhumane killing of innocents is well on it's way. We are all victims every single time one of these madmen or women plod into a crowd to suicide bomb and kill people who have no way to protect themselves. Right now, as I peck away at this keyboard there are families living a nightmare of horror and sadness. Loosing your loved ones in something like this is the most unbelievable, undeserved cruelty. We each and everyone of us at this moment on a routine Sunday in America are victims as we watch the NFL playoffs, and consider what to cook for dinner tonight. We must pause momentarily and say a word of prayer of aknowledgement that the world is cruel and unfair in so many instances. We miss the reality of what is going on everyday, in Israel, in South Korea, and inumerable other parts of the world, but we must begin, I believe as a nation, as a people, to look outward and realize the world today is shrinking and the human family and the entire human race is under attack from the forces of evil. Let us just be aware of our own great good fortune, to have the blessings of geography and history bestowed upon us. I am confident that out there within our borders we will come forward and begin to take up arms in all manner, politically, economically, spritually, and in a collective revolution against evil we will begin to beat back the forces of evil before we have lost our own ability to respond. Of this I pray. vegasmike433/Michael P. Whelan
